Grand Sierra Resort Donates $20,000 to The Children’s Cabinet

RENO, Nev. (June 12, 2024) – Grand Sierra Resort and Casino (GSR) is proud to announce the donation of $20,000 to The Children’s Cabinet. The funds will be directed towards supporting the organization’s Redfield Academy, which is dedicated to providing support for youth who may be struggling in high school and need a more individualized approach.

"We are incredibly grateful for the generous donation from Grand Sierra Resort," said Kim Young, The Children's Cabinet CEO. "These funds will make a significant impact on the lives of the students at Redfield Academy, providing them with the support they need to thrive academically. GSR's ongoing commitment to education and community well-being exemplifies the kind of partnership that truly makes a difference in the lives of our youth."

As one of the largest employers in Washoe County, GSR provides thousands of jobs to parents with children in the district. Supporting education is a priority for the GSR ownership and management team. GSR General Manager, Shannon Keel, has served as a Children’s Cabinet board member for over five years.

“We are delighted to continue our long-standing support of The Children’s Cabinet,” said Keel. “Every young person deserves a chance to succeed, and this donation represents our commitment to fostering education and growth.”

As a part of their continued support, GSR invited Redfield Academy seniors to celebrate their upcoming graduation with an afternoon of lunch and bowling before receiving the donation.

Since 2014, GSR Cares has provided over $1,000,000 in donations to over a dozen local charities and organizations throughout the region, including The Children’s Cabinet, Make-A-Wish Northern Nevada, Keep Truckee Meadows Beautiful, Toys for Tots and local schools.
