Reno, Nev. – With the Grand Sierra Beer and Chili Festival, less than a week away, many of northern Nevada’s most popular restaurants will compete for the title of People’s Choice and the opportunity to win $1,000 for a charity of their choice. The local restaurants will join several local and regional breweries, an exciting entertainment lineup and performances from Monster Energy’s BMX team for what is planned to be the biggest Beer and Chili Festival, yet. The event has also partnered with the International Chili Society’s (ICS) World Championship Chili Cookoff, presented by Bush’s Beans, and proceeds will benefit the local chapter of Make–A-Wish. The event will take place on Saturday, Oct. 21 and Sunday, Oct. 22 and admission to the event is free. Tasting packages are on sale now and are available at,, #ChiliBeerFest.

This year’s chili festival will showcase several local and popular restaurants as they battle for the title of ‘People’s Choice’ and $1,000 for the charity of their choice. Last year’s winner, Café at Adele’s of Carson City, returns to defend its title while BJ’s Nevada Barbecue Company of Sparks will fight to earn another $1,000 for High Sierra Chef’s Association Educational Fund. Other local restaurants include Lucky Beaver Bar & Burger, The Little Waldorf Saloon, Pignic Pub & Patio, Bam!Dog Righteous Hot Dogs and The Mustard Seed.

“We are incredibly excited for this weekend’s event and we’re even more excited to welcome back some of our areas most popular restaurants,” said Erin Wootan, director of special events for Grand Sierra Resort. “Last year, Adele’s and BJ’s BBQ won over the crowd and we’re sure that this year’s list of participating restaurants will make for an even more exciting competition.”

Restaurants will be serving homemade chili during the entire event, with different restaurants in attendance each day. Additionally, the restaurants inside GSR will also be competing for the title of ‘People’s Choice’ and will be serving throughout the event.

A full schedule including all participating breweries and restaurants will be updated over the coming weeks. For more information visit or follow the trend on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram #ChiliBeerFest.
