RENO, Nev. – Live Nation, the largest concert promoter in the world, and northern Nevada’s premier resort destination, Grand Sierra Resort and Casino (GSR), have inked a deal to bring world class entertainment to the iconic Grand Theatre. The theatre, which is undergoing a $10 million renovation will be one of the top entertainment venues in the West.
The dramatic makeover for the iconic theatre includes increased and enhanced luxury seating, brand new artist facilities and a stunning entry. The new Grand Theatre is expected to open this Summer.
“Born from a rich history beginning with the MGM’s construction of the Grand Theatre in 1978, the venue has hosted world renowned artists for nearly four decades. The new Grand Theatre will combine the grandeur and beauty of the existing theatre with a $10 million investment to elevate the entire sound and viewing experience,” said Tracy Mimno, general manager of GSR. “The combination of the new Grand Theatre with the Live Nation partnership enhances our commitment to provide the region’s most dynamic entertainment acts and guest experience for years to come.”
Ben Weeden, chief operating officer of Live Nation’s Theatre and Club division, said, “Helping creating great fan experiences with great musical performers is something we work very hard at. The Grand Theatre is an amazing venue with an extraordinary history and will easily be the must-play venue in the region. Nothing even comes close to this and we believe the artists will all agree once they see the new venue.”
The new theatre will have a capacity of more than 3,000 with 2,700 luxury seats that include more legroom, wider seats and wider aisles. Designed by John Sergio Fisher & Associates, the theatre will also include a two-tiered entry with an all-new, enclosed lobby as well as new artist facilities including dressing rooms, green rooms and an artist lounge. Further, the theatre will be upgraded to include state-of-the-art lighting and sound renovations.
In partnership with Live Nation, a full lineup along with details on a special grand-opening performance will be announced in the coming months.
