RENO, Nev. (Aug. 17, 2021) – Grand Sierra Resort and Casino (GSR) celebrated this month’s “Grand Hero” winner, Kacey Winn, a 6th grade math teacher at Billinghurst Middle School. An educator for the past decade, Winn is recognized for going above and beyond her duties over the last year, including extra virtual tutoring sessions with her students and purchasing school supplies out of pocket.
Jason Mattick, Prinicpal of Billinghurst Middle School said, “Mrs. Winn is a bold, dedicated Bighorn! For over 10 years, Mrs. Winn shows up every day and gives 100% to her students, even on tough days. She shares her love, compassion, and knowledge with not only her students, but to all Bighorns.”
Winn was recognized by northern Nevada’s premier resort as part of GSR’s “Grand Hero” nomination program, where community members are asked to nominate everyday heroes in their local communities from teachers to first responders to volunteers and all those in-between to receive a relaxing resort vacation as an expression of thanks.
Community members can nominate and share stories of everyday heroes deserving recognition to GSR’s “Grand Hero” program by visiting grandsierraresort.com/gsr-cares. GSR will select a winner once a month and will reward the chosen hero with a complimentary two-night stay at Northern Nevada’s premier resort destination, a food and beverage credit to use at any of the sumptuous restaurants featured throughout the casino-resort and a spa certificate for The Spa at Grand Sierra Resort.
