Experience the New William Hill Race & Sports Book at Grand Sierra Resort

RENO, Nev. (Sept. 2, 2022) – Kick off the NFL season at the newly renovated William Hill Sports Book at Grand Sierra Resort (GSR) during the Football Season Opening Party. The new, 3,000 square-foot space, located just off the casino floor near LEX Nightclub, will also be home to Northern Nevada’s first Chickie’s & Pete’s Crab House & Sports Bar, voted ESPN’s No. 1 sports bar in North America, opening later this fall.

“We’ve greatly elevated the viewing and wagering experience,” said Shannon Keel, general manager of GSR. “This new Race & Sports Book will be the destination for sports fans all year long. We’re proud to partner with William Hill to create a uniquely designed space that highlights the best we have to offer.”

The new Sports Book features $10 million in upgrades for guests to experience games and events. Fans can watch all of their favorite football teams on NFL Sunday Ticket thanks to the expansive 45-foot-wide LED viewing wall or at any of the spacious race stations equipped with 24-inch personal TV monitors, individual lighting and USB connectivity ports. Bettors can access William Hill’s mobile app, kiosks, and InPlay wagering menu alongside the casino’s best-in-class restaurants and entertainment options.

“We are excited to bring a new William Hill sports book to our long-time partners at Grand Sierra. This newly renovated, state-of-the-art space should quickly become a fan favorite heading into football season and beyond,” said David Grolman, who leads retail sports betting operations for William Hill.

To celebrate the opening, GSR will hold a ribbon cutting on Sept. 8 at 3 p.m. with Reno mayor Hillary Schieve and GSR executive leadership participating. Following the ribbon cutting, Schieve and the GSR team will place ceremonial first bets for charity to support Option Veterinary Care, Nevada Kids Foundation, Communities in Schools of Nevada, Children’s Cabinet and Make-A-Wish, each receiving $1,000 and any additional payouts.

In addition to Thursday’s grand opening ceremony, GSR is hosting F.P. Santangelo, broadcaster and former outfielder for the San Francisco Giants and Los Angeles Dodgers, for a live KNBR Tonight broadcast from the newly renovated space on Friday, Sept. 9 from 6 to 10 p.m.

For a limited time, bettors who open a new William Hill account can earn $100 when they bet $100. The money will be deposited into new accounts once qualified. Other restrictions apply.

In addition to the $10 million Race and Sports Book upgrade, capital improvements are happening throughout the casino resort with more than $55 million slated for this year alone. Since assuming ownership of GSR in 2011, Alex Meruelo has invested more than $330 million in resort upgrades. Nearly every inch of the property has been enhanced, including renovations to GSR’s 2,000 hotel rooms and casino floor; a transformation of The Pool, a year-round outdoor oasis; renovations of its 200,000 square feet of meeting and convention space; an all-new Infinity High Limit game room; an applauded renovation of its historic Grand Theatre; the creation of the wildly popular LEX Nightclub; enhancements to the front porte-cochere; new restaurants and more.
