Entertainment
Jimmie Allen – Friday, Feb. 11
Multi-platinum recording artist and songwriter Jimmie Allen has been blazing trails since the beginning of his breakout career. He made history as the first Black artist to launch a career with two consecutive No. 1 hits off his 2018 debut album Mercury Lane (which The New York Times dubbed as one of 2018’s strongest) – the first being his debut single “Best Shot,” which claimed the No. 1 spot on Country radio for three weeks, and second being “Make Me Want To.” Catch him in The Grand Theatre on Friday, Feb. 11 at 8 p.m. Doors open at 7 p.m.
Kenny G – Saturday, Feb. 12
Smooth jazz saxophonist Kenny G has unveiled a new studio effort every couple years since his 1982 eponymous debut. His fourth studio effort, 1986’s “Duotones,” marked the beginning of his commercial success. That collection topped Billboard’s Contemporary Jazz Albums chart and produced two Top 3 singles, “Songbird” and “Don’t Make Me Wait for Love.” His 1992 release, “Breathless,” marks his most successful effort to date, selling more than 12 million copies. The contemporary jazz musician, who first started performing professionally in the mid-‘70s with Barry White’s Love Unlimited Orchestra, now sells tickets to his own arena shows. See him Saturday, Feb. 12 when he takes the stage at Grand Sierra Resort at 8 p.m. Doors open at 7 p.m.
Lewis Black – Friday, Feb. 18
Known as the king of the rant, Lewis Black uses his trademark style of comedic yelling and animated finger-pointing to skewer anything and anyone that gets under his skin. His comedic brilliance lies in his ability to make people laugh at the absurdities of life, with topics that include current events, social media, politics and anything else that exposes the hypocrisy and madness he sees in the world. Black brings his most recent show, “Off the Rails” to The Grand Theatre at Grand Sierra Resort on Friday, Feb. 18, at 8 p.m. Doors open at 7 p.m. For more information on GSR’s Valentine’s Day specials or to make a reservation or purchase tickets, visit grandsierraresort.com.
