Reno’s premier resort-casino raised $1,000 for the Reno Rodeo Foundation at the fifth annual event
RENO, Nev. (Oct. 19, 2021) – This past weekend, Grand Sierra Resort and Casino (GSR) welcomed back the annual Beer & Chili, featuring a wide variety of award-winning chilis and brews from across the West.
More than 1,000 attendees visited The Pool at GSR on Saturday, Oct. 16 to celebrate Northern Nevada’s favorite fall event. Food lovers sampled signature chilis and specialty dishes from seven restaurants, ranging from traditional chili styles, Mexican-style chili verde, vegan chili variations and more. The event once again featured live entertainment and drafts from 20 award-winning breweries from across the West. Additionally, a portion of the proceeds from each event ticket sold for the 2021 festival were donated to the Reno Rodeo Foundation.
Chili chefs once again competed to win over the palates of festival-goers and judges. Reno Aces and 1868 Professional Sports Catering nabbed top honors, winning both “People’s Choice” and “Judges’ Choice” awards for their chili. Heretic Brewing, in collaboration with BrewChatter, was named “People’s Choice” for brews. The winning restaurant and brewery were awarded $1,000 each to go toward their favorite charitable organizations. Reno Aces and 1868 Professional Sports Catering chose the Reno Rodeo Foundation, while Heretic Brewing selected Fisher House Foundation in Fairfield, CA as their award recipient.
