Detroit rapper Tee Grizzley first gained attention in the music scene by posting songs online in 2011. However, he made a major breakthrough with his 2017 single “First Day Out.” The song quickly went viral, amassing over two million views on YouTube in just three weeks, partly due to a social media challenge started by basketball star LeBron James. This success led to Tee Grizzley signing with 300 Entertainment and the release of his debut mixtape, “My Moment” (2017).
He followed up with the hit single “From the D to the A,” featuring Lil Yachty, which earned a double platinum certification from the RIAA. Tee Grizzley continued to build on his success with a collaborative mixtape, “Bloodas” (2018), with Lil Durk, and released his debut studio album, “Activated” (2018), which reached No. 10 on the Billboard 200. His subsequent albums, “Scriptures” (2019) and “Built for Whatever” (2021), also performed well, peaking at No. 20 and No. 15, respectively, on the Billboard 200. In 2023, Tee Grizzley experienced a commercial resurgence with his fourth album, “Tee's Coney Island,” which included the hit single “IDGAF” featuring Chris Brown and Mariah the Scientist, once again landing him on the Billboard Hot 100.
