Formed over two decades ago amid the haze of adolescence, SOJA (an acronym of “Soldiers of Jah Army”) has since cultivated a global community of fans with their roots reggae music. Wielding influence from Rage Against The Machine, Wu-Tang Clan, Johnny Cash, and most notably Bob Marley, the eight-member band recorded their first album “Creeping In” in 1998, followed by their self-titled debut EP “SOJA” in 2000. Following this release, the band delivered a steady stream of studio albums, securing Grammy nominations in the Best Reggae Album category for “Amid the Noise and Haste” (2014) and “Beauty In The Silence” (2021).
Renowned for delivering dynamic live performances, SOJA quickly evolved from playing basement gigs to headlining festivals and shows across the globe. In 2016 the band dropped “SOJA: Live in Virginia,” which earned them their first Grammy win for Best Reggae Album, making SOJA the first reggae-rock group to win the award. Despite their ever-growing stature, SOJA continues to pay homage to their humble beginnings and the creative collaboration that defines the genre of reggae.
Joining SOJA is Hawaiian singer/songwriter HIRIE. The Filipino-born, Italian-raised, Oahu-based musician found breakout success with her 2016 release “Wandering Soul” and the 2019 follow-up “Dreamer.” Backed by a six-piece band, HIRIE’s distinct musicality transcends borders, combining laid-back reggae with dub techniques, ska-influenced rock and elements of pop. Doors open at 7 p.m.
