RENO, Nev. (May 16, 2022) –Grand Sierra Resort and Casino (GSR) has made a $25,000 donation to The Children’s Cabinet. The funds will support the organization’s Redfield Academy, which is dedicated to providing support for youth who may be struggling in high school and need a more individualized approach.
“GSR is a long-standing supporter of The Children’s Cabinet and children and families in our community,” said Kim Young, The Children’s Cabinet CEO. “We are thankful for the continued support as it allows us to provide case management services for youth in our Redfield Academy.”
As one of the largest employers in Washoe County, GSR provides thousands of jobs to parents with children in the district. Supporting education is a priority for the GSR ownership and management team. GSR General Manager, Shannon Keel, has served as a Children’s Cabinet board member for over three years.
“Grand Sierra Resort is a proud supporter of The Children’s Cabinet as it is a tremendous resource to children and families across Northern Nevada. It’s a safe loving place that allows children to receive services and resources that address unmet needs,” said Keel. “GSR is proud to provide additional resources to allow their programming to continue to thrive. The Children’s Cabinet serves more than 11,000 Nevada families each year and with this donation, we hope they can serve even more. It’s our pleasure to be able to support a non-profit that gives so much back to the community.”
The $25,000 donation comes on top of a recent contribution from GSR Jeans Day, a monthly initiative where employees are allowed to wear jeans and are encouraged to make a donation to that month’s assigned charity.
