There is a lot happening in Reno, Lake Tahoe and around the region this September. Check out our list below for the must do events this month.

Burning Man

August 30 – September 7

Burning Man is an annual festival held in the Black Rock Desert (approximately 4 hours north east of Reno) designed to celebrate art, self-expression and community. It is a world and city created by the burners (attendees) for the burners.

RIB COOK-OFF

September 2-7

Every year the best BBQers and meat smokers descend upon the northern Nevada desert to compete in the biggest free rib festival. This year you can expect to see amazing live entertainment, ribs galore and craft vendors from around the region. Bring your family, bring your friends, but most importantly, bring your appetite!

Camel and Ostrich Races

September 11-13

Have you ever seen a camel or an ostrich race? It’s one of the most entertaining events in the area. And this race has an interesting story to boot. Head down to Virginia City the weekend of the 11th and get in on the fun!

Reno Balloon Race

September 11-13

Each year Rancho San Rafael hosts the Great Reno Balloon Race – the world’s largest free hot-air ballooning event. Nearly 100 balloons take off from the park in the early morning hours – the best time to take flight for a balloon because of calm winds. Get there early and bring a blanket. Sit back, relax and enjoy the show.

Reno Air Races

September 16-20

Said to be the fastest motorsport in the world, the Reno Air Races combines both military and civil races and demonstrations as well as acrobatics, and fast flying planes. Bring your sunglasses and the family to this speedy event.

Street Vibrations

September 23-27

Every September thousands of motorcycles rumble into town for a celebration of all things music, metal and motorcycles. Events are planned for motorcycle enthusiasts across Reno, Sparks, Virginia City and Lake Tahoe. So grab your old lady and hop on your bike and head on down to the largest motorcycle rally in Northern Nevada.
