With so many incredible songs it’s hard to choose the best first dance song for wedding receptions. But, we combed the internet, read through hundreds of lyrics and listened to just as many to create our list of the 13 best first dance songs (of all time, in our opinion) for wedding receptions.

With words like, “I’m so in love with you, it just keeps getting better,” and, “I wanna spend the rest of my life with you by my side” how can this not be on the list of best first dance songs?

2. "At Last" by Etta James

When you’ve waited all your life for the love of your life, a song like this one by Etta James just speaks the words your lips can’t find. A definite must at any wedding reception, but we especially love it as a first dance song for the happy couple.

3. "Can’t Help Falling in Love" by Elvis Presley

We are all fools when it comes to love and if your story is one of a river of love rushing toward the sea of life, then this song may be perfect for your first dance song.

4. "Lucky" by Colbie Caillat & Jason Mraz

If you’re in love with your best friend and distance has defined your relationship, perhaps this breezy, fun and lovely little tune by Jason Mraz and Colbie Caillat is a perfect fit for the start to your happily ever after. We love it as a first dance song because it’s peppy tune gives everyone the “Lucky” feeling on your happy day.

5. "Stand By Me" by Ben E. King

Life brings many adventures and as the vows say “in good times and bad, for better or for worse” this song points out that as long as you, ‘Stand By Me,” we can make it through. It definitely belongs on this list of best first dance songs because it affirms the commitment you both just made.

6. "Unforgettable" by Nat King Cole

For two people who are immersed in love and know that their partner is “Unforgettable” this first dance song is hard to beat. It’s a classic tune exuding love and affection. There won’t be a dry eye in the house.

7. "You Are So Beautiful" by Joe Cocker

Every bride wants to know and feel that her groom believes she is the most beautiful woman on earth. Joe Cocker’s song, “You Are So Beautiful,” can’t be beat. Its simplicity states what our hearts sing out.

Love is blind and while none of us are perfect, this song makes us feel like none of that matters. Love gives us strength and courage to do the impossible. Of course, “It had to Be You,” and no one else – that’s why you’re getting married. So why not shout it from the rooftops? Its Big Band flair makes it a perfect fit for twirling around the dance floor in your wedding dress and showing off your dancing skills.

This song is practically a wedding vow in itself, “I promise to love you faithfully,” and “I vow to be one with thee.” This is a dreamy first dance song that will make you weak in the knees.
