World’s Championship Chili Cookoff heads to GSR this October

Reno, Nev. - This fall, Grand Sierra Resort and Casino (GSR) will host the World’s Championship Chili Cookoff (WCCC). The event, sanctioned by the International Chili Society (ICS), is the culmination of cookoffs around the nation, crowning a new World’s Champion in each category and featuring exciting entertainment. The WCCC will be held Oct. 16-18 and full details will be available at here.
“We are very happy to host the World’s Championship Chili Cookoff, which is a premier event gathering the top chefs and cooks in chili-making from around the globe to showcase their best recipes,” said Tracy Mimno, General Manager of GSR. “Our property serves as the perfect venue for this exciting championship and we look forward to seeing locals and visitors alike join us in not only welcoming this great event back to northern Nevada but reveling in all the event has to offer.”
The WCCC will include a variety of competitions for participants including Best Booth Decoration and Showmanship, Best Homestyle Chili, Best Chili Verde, Best Salsa, Best Traditional Red Chili and the People’s Choice Chili. And, event goers can get in on the fun too. In addition to sampling some of the world’s greatest chili, contests include the Miss Chili Pepper Contest, Mr. Hot Sauce contest and the Shoot n’ Holler contest.
