Reno, Nev. - Grand Sierra Resort and Casino (GSR) in Reno, Nev. and The Meruelo Group announced the addition of Jessica Baran as vice president of sales, conventions and meetings. GSR is the largest resort and gaming destination in the Pacific Northwest with 2,000 rooms and 200,000 square feet of meeting and convention space. With more than 15 years of experience in developing, leading and executing strategic plans for multiple properties across the country, Baran will lead GSR's sales team, convention services and catering.

Baran's experience includes a long list of luxury global brands from around the United States including the Ritz-Carlton Hotel Company, The Venetian Resort Hotel Casino, Kerzner International's Atlantis Resort Casino, MGM Grand and Foxwoods Resort Hotels Casino. Baran graduated with a Bachelor's in Hotel, Restaurants and Institutional Management from the University of Delaware and also attended the Swiss School of Hospitality in Chur, Switzerland. Further, Baran is a member of the Professional Convention Management Association, Meeting Professionals International and Financial and Insurance Conference Planners.

Baran joins GSR in the middle of the property's ongoing resurgence as one of the premier resort destinations on the West Coast. Over the past three years, The Meruelo Group has invested more than $50 million into exciting new venues, luxurious upgrades and modern renovations.
