Grand Sierra Chili & Beer Festival Brings Local Brews and the 50th Annual World’s Championship Chili Cookoff to Reno This October

Reno, Nev. – This fall, Grand Sierra Resort and Casino (GSR) brings together some of the region’s top breweries and award-winning chili from around the world to northern Nevada for the Grand Sierra Chili & Beer Festival. The event, scheduled for Friday, Oct. 21 through Sunday, Oct. 23, will benefit the local chapter of Make-A-Wish® and, in addition to beer and chili, will feature more than 75 craft vendors, a Fire House Chili Challenge, local Chef Showdown and big name entertainment including modern swing sensations the Cherry Poppin’ Daddies, Jackson Michelson, The Novelists, Jelly Bread, Hindsight and more. Admission to the event is free and a variety of chili and beer tasting packages are available for purchase. Tasting packages for the event go on sale Wednesday, August 24.
The Grand Sierra Chili & Beer Festival will feature the 50th Annual World’s Championship Cookoff with over 300 of the top cookers from around the world vying for the title of World Champion, a total prize package of $50,000 and, of course, the coveted People’s Choice Award. The event is sanctioned by the International Chili Society and will serve as the culmination of cook-offs from around the nation, crowning a new World’s Champion in categories including Homestyle Chili, Salsa, Chili Verde and Traditional Red. The 50th anniversary of the chili cookoff highlights the unprecedented Champion of Champions event. All competitors in this event are $25,000 winners from the last 50 years.
