Reno, Nev. - Death Cab for Cutie returns to Reno for a live performance in the newly renovated Grand Theatre inside Grand Sierra Resort and Casino (GSR) on Monday, Sept. 28. Joining Death Cab for Cutie for this one night only performance is American rock duo Best Coast. Tickets start at $35 and are on sale now here or by calling 1-800-648-3568.
While creating its latest album “Kintsugi,” Death Cab for Cutie rediscovered its musical roots and included sounds that thread back to the unique style that originally won fans over. The name for the album was chosen for its meaning; Kintsugi is a philosophy derived from the Japanese art of highlighting flaws by repairing cracks with gold highlighting. The band felt that it was an extremely appropriate term for the album that allowed them to repair their own breaks and make them into things of beauty. Open-minded and willing to change the way they wrote and recorded the album, the band was yielded its most compelling work in years.
The Grand Theatre, which is undergoing a $10 million renovation, will be one of the top entertainment venues in the West with a capacity of more than 2,700 including well-appointed luxury seats with more legroom, wider seats and wider aisles. In addition, exclusive VIP booths with personalized beverage and bottle service will be available for small groups and special occasions. Designed by John Sergio Fisher & Associates, the theatre will also include a two-tiered entry with an all-new, enclosed lobby, state-of-the-art lighting and sound renovations, as well as new artist facilities including dressing rooms, green rooms and an artist lounge.
